Keeping Your Own Informal Sire Stats To Find Horse Racing Winners

Sire statistics help us handicap races when horses are facing a new situation. For instance, in a race for two year old horses, many of them may have never raced before. By looking up the statistics for the sires you can easily tell which ones might be precocious and win in their very first effort. When handicapping the triple crown races, looking at the stats for distance is another way to weed out runners who may not be bred to run the classic distances.

Obviously, these records are very handy, but only in a broad sense. Some horses do well on certain tracks because they like the track surface or the degree of the turns. That preference may be an inherited trait. Using that horse racing angle, you will find that some sires produce horses that like a particular track.
