Thentavius' MUGEN Matches: Satsujinki #6: Tetsu Yatogi

...Man, I nearly got my ass handed to me. In any case, this is the first video with the intro put in, with a preview of any possible applicants for what's currently a mini-team; if you don't like that it lasts too long, I'm willing to make a shortened version if necessary. Characters Used:Shiki "Satsujinki" Nanaya--Bunshi, Rouge Noir, SlayerTetsu Yatogi (w/ Personal AI and Dampener (the dampener was technically PotS' work (digging around the intarwebs led me to some of his coding, so apologies to him / her if he sees this, though I had to adapt it to make sure it reset everytime he lacked a target) by me, and CLSN fixes by Darkflares) Stage:Sky Battle (Night)--ZiltamaBGM:Heroic Battle, off the Shin Megami Tensei OST-- Tetsu was HIGHLY aggressive thanks to my AI, so it was no surprise that I ended up getting my ass kicked thanks to some mistakes in the first round. I quickly switched to the tried-and-true 214A/B/C method of picking apart opponents since going toe-to-toe with him can end in you getting torn apart.

New Years resolutions

I hope that everyone had a happy New Year! I went down to Franklin to be with my friends and had a great time! We had a pretty low key night, which worked out great. We pretty much played games, ate lots of good food, and watched the ball drop at midnight. Now for the good old New Years resolutions. My goal for this year is find a full-time job. My current job has been a good learning experience, but I really need a full-time with benefits. I'm still looking, think happy thoughts for me. I can't believe it's been year since I started my internship at Emmis. While that internship didn't really lead to anything at that company, it was a great experience. I had the opportunity to learn about both the programming and promotions side of corporate radio. I also have many fond memories of interning with Dylan. I don't think that I will ever forget Intern Sara's blind date series! One of my friends called the studio line asking me if I wanted to go on a date with one of her boyfriend's friends. I said sure why not, then told Dylan. Well, out of nowhere Dylan asks me about the blind date. This lead to about three or four segments about the guy. The guy I was dating at the time was quite the celebrity and didn't even know it! There for a pre-date show, post-date show, and a second date show. The best part was probably getting recorded annoucing his fantasy to all of Indianapolis haha. I miss radio a lot, but couldn't find a job in radio. I decided that I should look into other careers and registered with a staffing agency. That lead me to my current job, where I have learned tons about the corporate world. I decided that I could like a career in marketing where I can use my Spanish. Besides the whole job situation, I think that I have really grown up as a person this year.I have learned to roll with the punches and how to not get upset about stupid things. Many things are out of my control and it is not worth getting upset over. I've also learned how to budget my money and how much coupons and sales can save money! Alright, on that note here's to a great 2007!Source

PSP hacked for use with DualShock controller

Filed under: GamingIt's not the first time we've seen a controller hacked for use with the PSP, but this mod by Acidmods member Blizzrad takes things a bit further than most, with it relying entirely on hardware modifications in order to work, meaning it can be done on any PSP regardless of the firmware. It's also one of the cleanest-looking mods we've seen to date, with the only evidence of tampering on the PSP itself being a discreetly placed controller connector right above the power switch. Of course, that also means it's considerably more difficult for most of us to do ourselves, but we can at least get a glimpse of what's possible courtesy of the video after the break.Continue reading PSP hacked for use with DualShock controllerRead | Permalink | Email this | Comments Source

Joba, Giambi and Posada

Still no official word on whether Joba Chamberlain will start his next time out. While some of you with tickets for Tuesday's game, thinking you might get to see his first major league start, there's a possibility he would start Monday. He threw just 55 pitches Wednesday, and could easily come back to start Monday. Plus there would be less hype surrounding the game, since it's in Minnesota rather than at Yankee Stadium, which the Yankees might see as a plus. I know one person who would be very excited if Joba makes his first start Monday in Minnesota. His father, Harlan, will be in town for this four game series. That's very good news, as if you remember, he was hospitalized earlier this season. In other news, Jason Giambi is tearing the cover off the ball. You may be surprised to learn that his OPS (on-base-plus slugging percentage), which some view as one of the best indicators of a player's offensive production, ranks fourth-highest in the American League. Here's the story: http://www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/yankees/ny-spyinside0530,0,5531821.column Also, Jorge Posada could be back from the DL as early as next week. He caught seven innings without throwing to the bases in extended spring yesterday. He tested his arm in workouts, and may be fully cleared to throw to all bases in games tomorrow.Source

Crying foul over non-call

Boston – I can see the TD Banknorth Garden from the hotel room I just checked into for game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals tonight. I just hope I don’t see any officiating controversy in a few hours, the likes of which has marred the series out West between the Lakers and Spurs. I have to admit, when I first saw Derek Fisher land on Brent Barry on the Spurs’ final possession last night, I thought it had to be a foul. Definitely not a three-shot foul, because Barry didn’t lean in to take advantage of the contact in the act of shooting. But a foul nonetheless. Once I heard the TNT guys – including Reggie Miller and Charles Barkley, who evidently had money on the Lakers – their argument made perfect sense. As the offensive player in that situation, you have two choices when the defender is in the air: 1) go up with your shot, absorb the contact, and go to the foul line, or 2) avoid the contact and try to get a better look at the basket. Basketball coaches at the most rudimentary level teach that you choose option No. 1; when you get the defender in the air with a ball fake, go get the foul and take your chances at the line. But Barry didn’t do that. He took a dribble and tried to get a better shot off. He missed game over. In all likelihood, series over and season over for the defending champs, who could only beat the Lakers three times in a row if all three games were at home and Joey Crawford was NOT part of the officiating crew. But there is no right or wrong answer here. As Henry Abbott of TrueHoop and Chris Broussard of ESPN The Magazine point out, you can’t get very far arguing that there was no foul on the play. There most certainly was, and it wasn’t called. So in that respect, the officials did what they’re never supposed to do. They determined the outcome with their whistles – by not using them. On the other hand, I just can’t get past the notion that Barry didn’t do his job on the play. Going up with the shot once Fisher was in the air would not have been comparable at all to flopping. Flopping is creating a foul where there was none. Taking advantage of an overzealous defender who went for a head fake by making him pay in the act of shooting is just smart basketball. I’m glad the Spurs were as classy as they were over this. If something similar had happened to the Pistons or the Celtics, I’m confident either team would’ve whined for days. I’m just hoping game 5 tonight across the street doesn’t come down to that.Source

Told you so

I asserted in my Sunday column that road teams can still win in the NBA playoffs, despite evidence to the contrary. I'm not one to say "I told you so," and I'm not going to violate my own premise by making too much out of one game. But the Spurs debunked the myth last night by beating the Hornets in game 7 in New Orleans, 91-82, to advance to the Western Conference Finals against the Lakers. It was the first time that a road team won in the series and only the third time in 25 games that a road team won in the second round. As I predicted, it was bound to happen sooner or later. In the interest of full disclosure: If Media WatchDog Neil Best had asked me if I would have written this post had the Hornets won last night, my answer would have been, "No comment, Neil. Now get back to posting photos of scantily clad women on your blog in a shameless attempt to increase page views." Sigh. Source

State Press: Leake stars in unlikely role for ASU in sweep

Published in The State Press on Monday, April 28, 2008Sophomore Mike Leake has said all along: If the decision was his to make, he would prefer to pitch Friday nights and hit the remainder of the weekend. ASU baseball coach Pat Murphy has shied away from giving his best pitcher consistent playing time in the field, largely because the value of a healthy Leake on the mound. But with the team's top hitter junior Ike Davis battling injuries, Leake's hypothetical became reality as the No. 4 Sun Devils (35-7, 10-5 Pac-10) swept visiting Cal this weekend."This was a weekend where, without Ike, we needed someone to step up and be the superstar," Murphy said. "Mike was certainly one of them."ASU is now tied with No. 16 Stanford atop the Pac-10 standings while No. 15 Cal (27-13-2, 7-8 Pac-10) drops into the conference's crowd middle.Leake was riding a stationary bike before Saturday's game, content with his complete game win on the mound the previous night and figuring he could relax. Then Murphy "shocked" Leake by starting him at first base and batting seventh."It's always nice to have the feeling that you are contributing to the team," Leake said. "I finally got my chance."Leake also started in Davis' place Sunday and played a role in ASU's 10-run second inning that removed any doubt from the series finale, which ASU won 18-2 in front of a crowd of 2,569. The game concluded after just 6 1/2 innings and three hours and 22 minutes of baseball as Cal coach David Esquer called for the game to be shortened.Aiming for the sweep of Cal on Sunday, ASU senior lefty Josh Satow (5-2) allowed two quick runs in the first frame, throwing 34 pitches. But ASU's offense put Satow at ease, giving its starter plenty of run support. The Cal defense helped out, too, with three errors and a wild pitch each leading to a run. Five Golden Bear pitchers walked 16 Sun Devils throughout. And Leake was right in the thick of it. He scored twice in the second inning as ASU sent 16 batters to the plate, needing just three hits to post the crooked number. ASU last scored 10 or more runs in an inning in February 2007.Satow came out for the third frame, threw just nine pitches and retired Cal in order. He pitched five innings and allowed two runs.Junior Petey Paramore provided insurance, hitting a 2-0 pitch in the bottom of the inning over the right field fence for a two-run home run, his fourth of the season. The Sun Devils batted around again in the fifth to score five additional runs. Junior Brett Wallace and senior Ryan Sontag each had 3-hit games.Davis incurred a rib injury Friday, exiting the game early and not playing Saturday and Sunday. He is also still recovering from a hamstring pull, which cost him playing time last weekend."It can keep you out a long time," Murphy said of Davis' most recent mishap. "I don't know the extent of it."Davis' absence is especially costly because he doubles as the team's closer. Junior reliever Stephen Sauer was also unavailable with soreness in his throwing arm, further limiting the Sun Devils' pitching depth.Saturday, Leake provided the eventual game-winning hit as ASU went on to win 11-7.Leake tripled down the first base line to drive in three runs and break a 7-7 tie in the fifth inning. He slid into third base, not out of necessity, but purely to get dirty."I'm glad they gave me the confidence to hit," Leake said. "It turned out for the best."Friday, ASU's pitching depth was offered a night of recuperation, as Leake (7-1) pitched his second complete game this season, despite not having the flare of his usual repertoire."I wasn't myself the first few innings," Leake said. "[Then], I was able to lock in a little better and hold them."Leake allowed seven runs, five earned, and walked four but the offense scored 11 runs to back him up. The victory made Leake the ninth Sun Devil all-time to win 20 or more games during his first two seasons.Source

State Press: Pitching problems continue for ASU in series-opening loss to Cal State Fullerton

Published in The State Press on Wednesday, April 23, 2008After using 10 different pitchers during the weekend, ASU baseball coach Pat Murphy was asked if depth was a concern.Murphy, literally in mid-season form, brushed it off, saying he had no qualms about burning through his tired bullpen if his relievers weren't doing the job."There will be somebody out there to pitch," the coach said with a sigh. And senior lefty Josh Satow proved to be the one Tuesday. But the No. 4 Sun Devils (31-7, 7-6 Pac-10) couldn't overcome his poor start to top a college baseball power in No. 19 Cal State Fullerton, losing 10-9 in California. With Stanford idle and No. 15 California victorious, ASU now takes a backseat to both in the Pac-10 standings. The Sun Devils will host Cal this weekend.Satow, on just three days rest, didn't prove to be the right choice on the mound. He allowed six runs in the first two innings to immediately erase ASU's five-run lead gained in first inning. But it was junior Ike Davis (4-1), one of the few ASU relievers not struggling, who allowed CSF's winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning. Playing through a minor hamstring injury, Davis allowed true freshman Gary Brown to triple down the right-field line. With the game even at nine runs apiece, freshman Christian Colon hit a walk-off single to end the game.Colon also hit a game-winning home run Sunday in CSF's sweep of Pacific. For the Sun Devils, Tuesday's finish represented yet another contest in which their reemerging offense was outscored late in the game because of poor pitching.ASU crossed home plate five times in the opening frame, which was jumpstarted by a two-run double from Davis. Before moving from first base to the mound, Davis went 2-for-5 at the plate, actually dropping his batting average to .416.ASU true freshman Matt Newman also singled home a run.But Satow, still trying to find the groove he maintained so well in 2007, allowed seven earned runs in all.CSF (24-13) tied the game at five on a home run by Brown in the second frame. The Big West Conference school added three more runs in the sixth. After Satow walked the first batter, Murphy pulled him in favor of senior Dustin Brader. The right-hander hit a batter and allowed three runs on two hits. CSF junior Brian Wilson finished things off with a two-run triple. The Sun Devils re-tied the game at nine runs apiece in the eighth frame with RBI hits from junior Kiel Roling and redshirt sophomore Jason Kipnis.Davis moved from first base to the mound and stranded two CSF runners in the bottom of the eighth inning before surrendering the game-winning run in the ninth.ASU junior shortstop Marcel Champagnie sat out his second straight game after a rough defensive weekend, during which he made his three errors. Champagnie, batting .362 at the plate, is tied for the Pac-10 lead in errors with 14 in 36 games played.Source

PlayStation Blog shows off PixelJunk Eden

Update: Apparently some readers had the video auto-playing and nobody likes that. We've now placed it after the break.

The PlayStation Blog has put together a really good great video that clears up a lot of confusion about what the gameplay in PixelJunk Eden, which should be released this summer, is actually going to be like. PS Blog's Jeff Rubinstein starts off by speaking with producers Deb Mars and Matt Morton a little bit about the game (and they give tiny canned presentations), but then it gets good with the walkthrough of the title.

The gameplay walkthrough actually kicks off about 1:30 into the relatively unedited video and it definitely gets us excited for the PSN game. We certainly hope to see more videos from Sony in the future that take this casual approach to presentation and demonstration on the site.
