Barona Valley Ranch Resort and Casino: Barona Reservation, California - Looking for the Ideal Casino Environment

The Barona Valley Ranch facility is owned
and operated by the Barona Band of Mission Indians. The resort is located on the
Barona Reservation, which was established in 1932, and is located about a
half-hour northeast of downtown San Diego. The all-new resort facility
encompasses a large casino, luxury hotel, and one of the most admired new golf
courses in America, designed by the firm of Gary Roger Baird Design
International. The Barona Valley area has much higher summer temperatures than
nearby San Diego, with annual temperatures ranging from 40 to 115F (4 to 44C).
Thus, it was necessary to have a major chilled-water resource to supply the air
handlers.

Massive Online Gaming, Small Income

The so-called MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer
Online Role-playing Game) offers users a unique experience: the chance of
playing, not against a machine, which in principle is more predictable, but
against (or with) other people. In this way, the games become unique and
unrepeatable and, apparently, the amusement factor is increased. These online
games promised to become the next "Big Thing" on the Internet. However,
according to this report there are still many doubts as to what will be the
source of income of the companies in this market.

Arizona Blue Skies: Gaming Landscape Becomes Clear in the Grand Canyon State

Proposition 202, also known as the 17-Tribe
Initiative, essentially set forth the framework for a new gaming compact between
the state and the gaming tribes that had been hammered out earlier in the year
between the 17 tribes and the governor. In the Arizona state's most expensive
election campaign, Proposition 202 hung on to garner victory by the necessary 50
percent of the total votes cast, plus one vote. The article's focal point is how
the voters in Arizona narrowly approved the continuation of the Native American
casinos for at least another 10 years and possibly as long as 23
years.

Historic Preservation: How Many State Constitutions Mandate Casino Design Aesthetics? - Colorado's Does

In November 1990, Colorado voters approved
what is called "limited gaming" in three small towns in Colorado: Central City,
Black Hawk, and Cripple Creek. Colorado voters also approved a constitutional
amendment allowing betting limits. Single wagers cannot exceed more than $5 and,
of course, only persons 21 years of age or older are allowed to participate. A
further limitation was placed on the total square footage that may be devoted to
gaming in a building. This article focuses on the number of other casino/gaming
related constitutional amendments made by the state of Colorado, and explains
that despite these amendments the future of gaming still looks
bright.
