Historic Preservation: How Many State Constitutions Mandate Casino Design Aesthetics? - Colorado's Does

In November 1990, Colorado voters approved
what is called "limited gaming" in three small towns in Colorado: Central City,
Black Hawk, and Cripple Creek. Colorado voters also approved a constitutional
amendment allowing betting limits. Single wagers cannot exceed more than $5 and,
of course, only persons 21 years of age or older are allowed to participate. A
further limitation was placed on the total square footage that may be devoted to
gaming in a building. This article focuses on the number of other casino/gaming
related constitutional amendments made by the state of Colorado, and explains
that despite these amendments the future of gaming still looks
bright.
