Cheating The Lottery Is Fraud

Are you tired of losing in the lottery? You want to become instantly rich by winning a jackpot, but you always just seem to lose. So now, you're thinking that cheating the lottery is your only option. Stop, don't do it... Unless you want to be charged with fraud, that is.

Maybe you think that you're too smart to be caught cheating the lottery. Here's a news flash - You're not. Many people before you have thought the same way and have been caught, and have also probably tried whatever scheme you could think of.

Let me give you an example of how a lot of people have tried to cheat the lottery. You know those instant scratch-off games? Many people have had the idea of ripping two losing scratch-off tickets in half and then rearranging the ripped pieces so that it is a winner. It sounds so simple, doesn't it? It's not.

Instant scratch-off tickets have at least two features that make it easy to spot a cheat like this. First of all, each tickets have designs in the background, usually some squiggly lines that go in a certain direction. If you try to tape up pieces from two separate tickets, those squiggly lines would not match. Second of all, the tickets have scanable bar codes. If the bar code doesn't match what's on the ticket, it makes it easy to see that the ticket is a fake.

This example is so common, in fact, that many lotteries have standard forms that they give to people that try to claim on these types of tickets. The forms explain to the people why they cannot get their money.

There are many more examples of ways that people try to cheat with lottery tickets. There's no point in listing them all here. The only point that should be made is that none of them work, so don't bother trying it.

Now, if just the thought of getting caught cheating the lottery doesn't deter you, know this - You could also get charged with fraud. Fraud? Really? Yes, cheating the lottery fits the definition of fraud - deceit perpetrated for profit or to gain some unfair or dishonest advantage. That's exactly what you're doing if you try to cash in a fake lotto ticket, trying to profit from deceit.

You should also note that fraud is a criminal offense that could result in fines or jail time. Your idea of cheating the lottery doesn't seem so bright, now, does it?
